Pin Trading Community Terminology 101
It can be tough joining a new community and spending too much time figuring out what everyone is trying to communicate to you. Here is a list of terms to help.
Pin Terminology Ch 1
Pin Trading / Buying Specific
🏰 Fantasy / Doujin / Fandom Pins: These are unofficial pin designs that are done by small creators, which in most cases are better than the official licensed product.
👀 ISO / DISO: Trading term for (Desperately / In Search OF). Use this along with pics to find and build your collection.
🏆 Grail: Defined as their holy grail of pins that they are looking for. Will do almost anything to get them.
💱 FT / FTO / NFT: ( For Trade / For Trade Only / Not for Trade).
💱 FS / FSO / NFS: (For Sale / For Sale Only / Not for Sale).
🥇 Priority: Will give priority trades. Usually to those that have their D/ISO.
💲🚚 DS/S: Drop price + Shipping / Addtl. Shipping. Seller is selling for the original store price + Shipping. Sometimes addtl. shipping is required if address changes are not allowed.
Pin Terminology Ch2
Pin Trading / Buying Specific
🙏 Have / Want: Usually followed by pictures of pins clearly showing what design will move their pin.
💱 VS: Variant Swap. To swap different color or effect variants of the design. E.g. Black nickel for Gold.
💵 OBO: Or Best Offer. Seller is willing to consider other offers than the posted price.
⚓ HTM: Hard-to-Move. The pin is up for trade but will most likely only move for a D/ISO.
⌚ Timestamp: A pin or a piece of paper with name and date to show proof of authenticity with a picture of the pin beside it.
💸 FnF / GnS: (Friends and Family [buyer pays all of the transaction fee] / Goods and Services [buyer and seller share the fee. buyer has 6 month protection]). Paypal transaction terms.
Pin Terminology Ch 3
Pin Ordering / Stores / Makers
🏪 Drop / Price / Date: Original Pin Maker / Store release price or date.
🔞 SFW: Safe For Work
💋 NSFW: Not Safe For Work Generally 18+ Content
🥳 Snag/ged: Successful purchase / pre-order.
✌ Drop Buddy: A person that will help you obtain a pin either online or at an event. Sometimes adding a Tip that is agreed upon by both.
📝 OP: Open Pre-Order. A period of time where you can preorder a pin design from a maker/store. In some cases an open pre-order also means that the LE numbers are also open until the preorder closes.
📦 OE: Open Edition. The specific pin design can have an unlimited number of restocks at the store.
Pin Terminology Ch 4
Pin Ordering / Stores / Makers
🔥 LE: Limited Edition. There is a limited number of pins made in that specific variant (combination of colors and effects) and no restocks. E.g. LE 30
🔐 LR: Limited Release. Availability of the pin could be limited to time period, location or instances. E.g. Expo LR pin (only available at a convention)
⚖ P4P / PFP: Pay for Production. The pin will be priced at the production cost and no profit is to be taken by the maker/store. Usually used to produced heavily referenced or official artwork. Generally the cheapest price.
🚫 Store / Maker Restrictions: Some stores have restrictions on quantity of pins purchased at once as well as timelines for resale. They are put in place to prevent pin flipping in the community for profits.
